Music has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started piano lessons at the age of 5 and my goal in life quickly became to learn to play every instrument. The harp was originally just another instrument on the path to that goal, but soon became my primary focus. My love of piano has never dimmed though, and I often find myself playing piano for hours.
I attended the acclaimed Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, home to the largest and most prestigious harp department in the world, where I studied under renowned harpist and pedagogue Susann McDonald. While at IU, I received my Bachelor of Music, Master of Music (with an Instrumental Conducting cognate), and a Performer Diploma (a graduate level degree which focuses on performance), all in Harp Performance. During my 9 years in school, I received invaluable experience both as a solo performer, as well as in orchestra and opera. I also served as an Associate Instructor for the harp department, completing an internship at the Lyon & Healy harp factory in Chicago as part of my training.
After graduation, my husband's work moved us around the southeastern United States, where I maintained thriving teaching studios in each state and was engaged as a solo performer and guest instructor and lecturer. I have also performed as principal and guest principal for numerous professional orchestras, operas, choirs, and other chamber and large ensembles. In Georgia, I served as harp faculty at the University of North Georgia, where I established the first harp program. In Alabama, I was appointed adjunct professor of the harp at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and served as adjunct professor of harp at Auburn University.
In the fall of 2025, we made our final move to Minnesota, where we are planning to finally settle for good. I look forward to growing my harp and piano studio and sharing my love of music with students of all ages in the Twin Cities area. I tailor every lesson to each individual student, taking their interests and goals into consideration while preparing the best pieces and exercises for their progress. It is my number one goal to ensure that the student always looks forward to and enjoys their lessons, while still progressing and improving.
