Ilah Raleigh Racine

Ilah Raleigh, voice

Soprano and Voice Instructor Ilah Raleigh has a big voice, and an even bigger dream to share her passion for music and performance - with audiences, other musicians, and especially, her students.  This dream has led her to perform in recital and opera in venues as varied as the Kennedy Center, elementary school cafeterias, and an historic (and haunted) opera house in Florida's "Emerald Coast."  Ilah has pursued training far and wide, from St. Paul, to Santa Fe, to San Francisco - even to Milan, Italy!  During a two-year stay in Milan, she became fluent in Italian while studying with famed mezzo-soprano, Giulietta Simionato.  Ilah earned a Master of Music, Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in Italian Studies (BA) from the University of Minnesota.  She is an active member of the Twin Cities Alumni chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, an international, co-ed music fraternity and honor society.

Ilah has taught piano and voice to children and adults in Minnesota, Maryland, and Florida during the past 10 + years.  She has an excellent background in vocal pedagogy, lyric diction, and performance.  Ilah incorporates visualization, meditation and movement to aid students in releasing tension, improving learning and memorization, building confidence, and enhancing artistry and interpretation.  To learn more about Ilah, visit www.ilahraleigh.com.
