Kelly Grill
Percussion
Originally from Minneapolis, MN, Kelly Grill is a classically trained musician and percussionist currently finishing the Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance Degree from the University of South Carolina.
Previously, Kelly served as Adjunct Professor of Percussion at both Brevard College (NC) and at USCA (SC).
While Specializing in classical Western percussion, Kelly performs as both soloist and chamber musician in all varieties of music, ranging from contemporary, avant-garde, jazz, marching, orchestral and large ensemble, to pop, and world music, to name a few.
Kelly has extensive teaching background in both private and public school settings. He taught the Percussion Methods course at the University of South Carolina (USC), assisted with coaching and conducting the USC Percussion Players ensemble, and taught private percussion lessons. Kelly has also presented numerous master classes at local high schools around the Columbia, SC, area. In addition, Kelly has acted as the percussion instructor for CMS (College Music School) at USC, and was the percussion instructor with COLA-MUSIC at USC.
Kelly holds a BM in Percussion Performance from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN), a MM from The Ohio State University and is completing the DMA in Percussion Performance Degree at the University of South Carolina. His teachers include Scott Herring, Susan Powell, Joe Krygier, and David P. Eyler.
